Most courses do not permit denims, collarless shirts or sports shoes. Please note that not all golf courses allow shorts to be worn. To save any problems please carry a pair of trousers. Golf shoes should be soft spikes as many courses only permit these.
Handicap Requirements
Keep your handicap certificates of your local club with you. Although many courses may not ask to see them, some may insist. A handicap of 24 or less for gents and 36 for ladies is standard, however some courses have a handicap requirement of at least 21 for gents and 30 for ladies.
Golf Carts and Golf Equipment
Generally, the links courses in Scotland do not permit golf carts. Most allow pull carts or provide a caddie service. Many golf clubs will have equipment for hire which can cost between £25 and £50.
Caddies
Each course has its own pricing and tipping policy, but a rough guide would be a fee of between £30 and £45 and tip of between £10 and £20 per round.
Options for Non-Golfers
We realize that non-golfers often accompany golfing groups, so we have lots of options for extra tours, activities and sight-seeing. You will see non-golfing suggestions clearly specified in our itineraries. For more options feel free to ask us.
Financial Failure Protection
Your holiday is fully protected under the Travel Trust Association. Each Travel Trust Association Member provides total financial protection to both the Principal and consumer in all bookings. This is done in two stages. First every TTA Member operates a trust account. This is an independent bank account to which an independent third party has been appointed Trustee. Members appoint either a Chartered or Certified Accountant, Solicitor or Banker as their Trustee. Funds are placed in this account for each consumer’s total financial protection. And second the TTA Travel Protection Plan is a unique fidelity coverage that covers all clients booking with TTA Members up to £11,000 per passenger, should the funds the consumer placed with the TTA Member, not be in the Trust Account, or not been given to the Principal.
Visas
Visas are required for entry into the UK and must be obtained in advance of travel.. Citizens of Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and the USA may stay in Britain for up to six months without a visa; EU citizens don't need a visa. Please check with your nearest British Consulate or your travel agent for additional information.
Tickets and Insurance
Our packages do not include international air tickets or travel insurance. You can either organise these yourself or ask our staff to recommend travel agents who can take care of your airline tickets, travel insurance and visas. These are agents we have spoken with to help you get a very competitive price and ensure that your requirements are met. However, we do not make any guarantee of their services. Please note that valid Travel Insurance is necessary for your visit.
When to travel
Scotland is full of great golf, whatever season you choose to travel. The shoulder months, November to March, represent great value with slightly lower pricing, but the peak summer months of May to September generally provide the best weather. Scotland is well known for its unpredictable weather. It can change very fast in a matter of minutes, especially in mountain and sea areas. When travelling around Scotland it is always best to be prepared for every sort of weather. In the height of the summer, the hours of daylight are long and it may not get dark until after 10pm, or later the further north you are.
